Mendenhall Glacier Shuttle
Beauty & Comfort (OH! The Glacier is nice, too!)
Our Mendenhall Glacier Shuttle runs at the top of the hour. Booking in advance is recommended as our drivers typically arrive at the pickup location to meet those that have already purchased tickets.
We DO SELL TICKETS ON SITE, so keep an eye out for our Shuttle if you haven’t decided in advance.
We meet guests near the Mt. Roberts Tram ticket office & the Pier 49 lot and deliver our guests to the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center drop-off area.
Our Shuttle returns 2 hours later and takes everyone back to the original pickup location.
Our nearly brand new, white Ford Transit 350 XLT holds 12-15 passengers and provides an incredibly soft, comfortable ride (road construction notwithstanding). The seats are also comfortable, there’s plenty of head and legroom, as well as front and rear A/C.
Why go? (Don’t tell anyone you asked that.)
If you don’t go see “THE GLACIER” you needn’t have bothered to come to Juneau at all (sort of). The 13-miles Mendenhall Glacier ends its slow creep at Mendenhall Lake which you can view from the visitor center or by trails in the area; the favorite being the Nugget Falls trail that takes you to Nugget Falls and one of the closest proximities to a glacier you can get without climbing one.
The wildlife you might see include mountain goats, bears, beavers, porcupines, and spawning salmon (which is a good indication there could be bear activity in the area – be bear aware).
